Dancing with Amateurs

PBL - Term 1
This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?
First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy.

We created an action plan and for our PBL we made a dance video. It took a lot of planning and deciding before we came up with the idea. We tried to use a gaming device of Frankie’s but that did not work so we got it from the internet. We practised and practised and then we made a dance video with me and Archie in it. Then we hosted tumu with the dance and gave away chocolate for the best dancers and for the best trier.

Reflection:
For our final product our group made a dance video and showed it to Tumu while we gave the teachers chocolate to give out and almost everyone loved it. How did our action build a sense of community in the school? the dance video united people together and gave a sense of achievement when the dance video finished.

I contributed by helping the group in the start where we came up with a idea. I helped again with the plan and I was one of the dancers and there was only two dancers. I also brag props in.

I think the PBL might impact on others by getting them moving and a smile on people faces also imagine if you won a chocolate bar.

What I learned about working with others was that it is easier to get ideas but way harder to decide on a idea. Everybody had their own unique things and how to do different things.

  1. Great reflection Max. You are so right that deciding on which action is not so easy when people have contributed ideas.
